One you decide to grow a vegetable garden you will have to plan on where you are going to position it in your garden. Where is the best place for it? You can have your garden in your backyard, just make sure there’s enough sunlight to sustain your vegetables. Vegetable garden design and vegetable garden planning involves a great deal of thought.

You will have to do a little digging and be prepared to get your hands messy. Take note that there should be enough space in your vegetable bed to plant your seedlings. A bed that is 3 foot wide is a good size to have. You should never waste space either.

You can decide if you want to use flowers with your vegetables. If you want to keep bugs at bay, roses and marigolds are your best bets. Many unwanted pests don’t like the smell of certain plants. Poppys also work very well and look incredibly beautiful. You could make a border around the edge of your bed.

Raised beds work very well for weeding and soil management. The only downside to raised beds is that the plants need to be watered often.

Some people add statues in their garden for some variation and to add a centerpiece. You can be creative and plant seedlings around the statue or ornament. This could also include a box that would attract the good kind of bugs like ladybirds that are good for your garden.

Other fun things you could include are some funky sprinklers (if water restrictions permit) or maybe you very own scare crow. Use your imagination to see what you can come up with. Think as crazy as you can and I bet you can come up with some unique ideas.

Having a home vegetable garden will bring you immense satisfaction and enjoyment! So get out now and see what you can come up with.

Growing vegetables is a fun and worthwhile activity.
