Roses are surprisingly easy plants to grow and ones that will supply your home with beautiful vases full of colorfull blooms.\u00a0 There are so many varieties to choose from.\u00a0 There are three main things to keep in mind when it comes to rose caring<\/a>.\u00a0 They are the type or variety you select, how much and how often to feed and water, and last but not the least is pruning.\u00a0 If you don’t have a good book on rose bush care may I recommend The Ultimate Book of Roses.\u00a0 It will list names of various roses and which ones are the hardiest with great photos.<\/p>\n

The type of rose bush you select is of utmost importance.\u00a0 For successfull rose bush gardening choose one that will thrive in your location.\u00a0 Disease and fungus can plague some roses so it is best to steer clear of those varieties.\u00a0 You may want to look into the hardier roses for best results.\u00a0 Plant the rose bushes about 3 to 4 feet apart to allow enough room for them to flourish. Also, find a location that receives adequate sun.<\/p>\n

A main consideration is watering and feeding for proper rose bush care<\/a>. It is recommended that one saturate the root in the morning being careful not to shower the plant or blooms.\u00a0 A recently planted rose needs to be watered daily for two weeks.\u00a0 After two weeks watering once a week is fine unless you live in a very hot climate.\u00a0 Mulch, bark or straw can be placed around the roses bushes to keep the soil moist and discourage weed growth.<\/p>\n

Feed and fertilize once a month from Spring through the first frost in the Fall.\u00a0 Find a good rose food at your local nursery with which to feed your roses. It is not recommended to feed or fertilize during the cold winter months.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

The biggest mistake most growers make in their effort to give good rose bush care is pruning.\u00a0 Just prune off the dead flowers or limbs.\u00a0 Cut the dead flowers down to the third or fourth branch or node (the small reddish lines). During the first two months of the year, cut back your roses to about two feet.<\/p>\n
