Tools You Will Need In Making An Organic Garden

Many have advocated the use of an organic garden because of the fact that our environment is slowly deteriorating. Many have backyard organic gardens with produce which is environment and user friendly. Start by knowing some of the tools you will need in making an organic garden if you are interested to be a part of this advocacy.

– Trowels – These are used for transplanting small plants and scooping soil. The kinds are hand, potting and transplant trowels. Potting trowel has a curved blade to avoid spillage. Whereas transplanting trowel is narrower and ideal for small spaces.

– Forks – These are used for cultivating or digging in small areas. Digging, perennial, and long handled perennial forks are some of its kinds. The long handled three tined perennial forks allow you to stand while digging and separating bulbs thus, avoiding kneeling. Other forks are manure or debris fork with a closer set of tine and compost fork with five tines for working on compost.

– Spades – We use this in digging and it has many kinds. The Transplant spade is tapered for easy wedging into soil. With good steel it can self-sharpen with constant use. The perennial spade is for easy planting of perennials in a small area.

– Hoes – Hoes come in variety, too. It may be heart shaped double, diamond, half moon, Japanese hoes, etc. The half moon hoe is good for cutting weeds and cultivating just below the soil’s surface. The heart-shaped double hoe is ideal for shallow planting in small areas. Japanese hoes are best for daily use. It is good for weeding, moving soils, forming plot trenches, and shaping raised plots.

– Bulb Planter – This is used for planting small bulbs and weeding. This protects the bulbs in the process of planting with its shape fit to hold a bulb.

– Transplanter – This is characterized by a long and narrow blade for faster and easier transplanting of plants.

– Dandelion Weeder = This is used to remove rampant weeds which are hazardous to the growth of your plants.

– Seed Bed rake – this is used in shaping rows while popping weeds at the same time, for breaking up clumps of soil, for flattening the top soil, etc.

– Dust Applicator – It is used to apply organic insecticides and insecticide dust.

– Pest Pistol Powder Duster – This is used for environment-friendly pest powder. It has a pinpoint nozzle for crevices where pests hide.

1 – Biodiesel Walk Behind Tractors – This refers to the mechanical way of digging a garden plot is through this tractor. Carbon neutral fuel are used.

Making an organic garden needs time and effort. It also needs a little knowledge about organic seeds and how to identify organic pumpkin seeds from ordinary seeds. You can do a little research about it or look it up in a book.
