The National Banner Of Sweden

Even though banners and historic flags have been used for purposes of signaling and such (residential flag poles, etc.) for centuries, if not millennia, most country flags have come to life during the last century, including the Swedish national flag. This national banner features the so-called yellow colored “Scandinavian Cross” on a blue colored field. The cross actually extends to all flag edges.

The use of the current colors on the Swedish ensign are said to be based on the Swedish national arms. Using this wonderful color combination likely reaches all the way back to the last part of the 13th century, or the 1400’s.

Other historic flags were attached to residential flag poles to represent Sweden during the last few centuries. Interestingly, the oldest recorded images of a blue colored cloth with a yellow colored cross date from the early 1500’s. This banner was a so-called “swallow-tailed” type flag. An actual description of this banner was made in a Royal warrant, which dates back to 1562. Ever since different variations have been displayed from tall and small flag poles.

Even though it is considered one of the stronger economies in our world today, back during the years of the 17th century Sweden emerged as a great European and substantial world power. Before that time much poverty a not a lot of reputation of significance was found in the Swedish territory.

Many countries and states have suffered the effects of a worldwide recession, including stronger economies in Europe and others operating around the world. Sweden has had a strong economy for many years. Despite these worldwide economic challenges, Sweden appears to come through this recession quite okay.

Most historic Scandinavian flags display the Scandinavian Cross, also called the Nordic Cross at times. This historic flag pattern displaying a cross stretches to all four sides of the flag, including the hoist side and fly end. The first to display the cross was the national flag of Denmark. This flag has flown a good number of years, if not decades or centuries from all kinds of different residential flag poles.

Colonial Flag dot Com offers historical flags, national flags and industrial flagpoles for less.
