Some Reasons Why Plants Wilt
Growing plants include a number of challenges to be faces and surmounted, especially when you are regulating an indoor garden because your plants only depend on what you provide them with. And wilting is one of these challenges.
Below are some of the reasons why plants wilt and some ideal measures.
1. The lack of water supply is the most usual reason why plants wilt. Obviously, the solution to this is to water your plants. However, if you are applying hydroponic systems, check if the water level is already below the minimum water requirement. Keep in mind that plants growing in a pot or container dry out quicker than those growing in open ground. In extreme cases of wilting, soak your potted plants in a bucket of water until air bubbles disappear.
2. On the other hand, if you overwater your plants, they can also wither. This only implies that too little or too much of anything is not good for your plants. Control the water you provide to your plants particularly when you are maintaining an indoor garden. Note that evaporation takes place in a slower pace indoors; so water your plants less than with your outdoor plants. Otherwise the roots of your plants will begin to struggle as they sit on damp soil longer than necessary.
3. Too little or too much sunlight is another cause of wilting in plants. There are plants which prefer growing under a shade; and if you put them in a sunny spot, expect them to wilt. The same may happen if you place a sun-loving plant in the wrong spot. If you are using hydroponic systems, make sure you only give your plants the appropriate artificial light requirement.
4. Disease is another cause of withering and maybe the hardest one to regulate. If your plants are stricken by diseases, they may also get infected. There are numerous diseases that may cause plants to wilt; and Fusarium caused by fungi is one of them. This kind of problem can be solved by using fungicide. Be very careful in using such product. Make sure you only use based on the directions given. The roots of your plants may be starting to rot or they lack potassium that is why they are wilting. To solve this problem, consider using wilt guard. But it is always ideal to prevent than to cure. So to keep your plants de-stressed and always vibrant, use a wilt guard regularly or as directed.
