McCulloch Lawnmowers Review

McCulloch lawnmowers must be some of the most versatile and well-regarded petrol rotary mowers on the market. They are designed principally for the care of informal grass. Available in a range of sizes, they are well made and very easy to operate. However big or small your garden, you can be sure of finding a size and specification to suit.

It is inevitable that there are times when only a petrol powered mower will do. You probably wouldn’t want to be trailing a long cable around trees in an orchard for example, or along paths mown through long grass. And an electric cable lying hidden in long grass is not a good idea! In these conditions a petrol mower is the only sensible choice. McCulloch M40-450CP

This is the smallest of our review group. Because the deck is moulded in durable polypropylene, the weight is a mere 20 kg. It is powered by a 148cc Briggs & Stratton motor which drives a 40cm blade. The cutting height is easily adjusted to cope with all types of terrain. At 40 litres, the grass collector is a great size. If you have a small garden, this is the model for you.

McCulloch M53-625CMDW

This is a machine designed for medium to large gardens, orchards and paddocks. The 190cc motor drives both a 53 cm blade and also the front wheels to help you cope with big areas. Years of service is assured by the steel construction. As well as collecting the mowings in a huge 71 litre collector, this model can be set to mulch the grass and return it to the lawn to preserve moisture and nutrients. The cutting height is readily adjusted from 25 to 80 mm.

McCulloch M53-675DWA

Although it shares many of the features of the 625, this mower has the additional ability to discharge the grass cuttings without mulching – useful when cutting very long grass when mulching would not be appropriate. So whatever the conditions, you can choose how best to keep your grass in top order. A slightly more powerful 190cc motor drives the 53 cm blade as well as the wheels, so making the mower great for large areas.

So we think that within this range of McCulloch lawnmowers you will be able to find just the right machine to suit your needs. All are powerful, with easy-start motors and superb levels of construction. They are also extremely well-priced, so whichever you choose you can be sure that your money will be well spent indeed.
