I Enjoy It – Handheld Lawn Edger Review
I really like this edger. Although I have a lot to edge (a corner lot with two driveways, one to basement and one the main driveway) I still like this one. The blade refuses to go; it is as good as new. As for the absence of guide, it is way too obvious to know where the cutting blade is when running the edger. I’ve only used the Edge Hog twice since getting it this week but it’s been fantastic. I haven’t edged my property for about 10-11 years and the sidewalks were overgrown with grass, vines, and branches from bushes covering up to two feet of the sidewalks.
Early on I would go too far into the grass and later I would scrap the edge of the walk. Eventually, I got it.
After you remove the “sod,” you would normally use a blower or push broom to clean up what’s left. Then, you could consider a pressure washing of the sidewalk, as there will be dirt under the sod on the concrete. I bought it to replace a much more difficult one to use, a gas-powered one from Sears. Even though it is electric and using a cord is somewhat more restrictive, it does a good job and is easy to use. And I do not mind using it for landscaping service purposes. This trimmer is only $90.00 bucks. Unless I’m overlooking the obvious, it’s of little use to me. I find this edger does remain in the edger position when in use.
If working on dense grass, I recommend you give the motor a break every few minutes to allow it to cool. Overall, it gets the job done, but I did notice two design flaws: 1. I am a ham radio operator and bought this equipment specifically to bury radials for a ground-mounted vertical antenna installation. The antenna is in my back yard, which is covered with lawn.
I have had this over a year, so I have had plenty of experience with it. I have had to use it in trenching mode to even get it to edge.
I was using my gas powered string trimmer as on edger until we purchased this last week. As I was growing up, my dad lived by gas powered equipment, so I was planning to buy a gas powered edger at some point in time, but I didn’t want to fork over the $200 minimum needed.
We have shopped for about a year for one of these and we definitely made the right decision. I hate yard work, so I got this for faster work and it is, has held up good over a year.
There is a height adjustment for the trenching level of the blade but that’s useless. This is a powerful easy to use edger. I can dig a hole with my bare hands, so basically this edger just needs to be able to cut hot butter for me. If you have clay and rocks for a yard it may indeed not have enough power.
It is easy to assemble. WHITE TRUNK COFFEE TABLE.
