Arranging Flowers Make People Happy Any Time
Flowers bring so much joy and happiness and can really brighten up a room. There are flower arrangements for every situation. Every young man knows to bring his sweetheart flowers on Valentine’s Day. Poinsettias are for Christmas, and it wouldn’t be springtime without the Easter Lilly and Tulips. Holidays wouldn’t be the same without the lovely colors of blooms that we associate with them on our tables and in our halls. An arrangement can brighten up any room and make it more inviting with its sweet smell.
Making flower arrangements for the holidays, a party, or just to brighten up your home can be a joyful experience. It is easy to learn how to arrange flowers. There are a few supplies you will need to get started making beautiful arrangements. The most common supplies are the little green squares of floral foam and floral tape which help to hold the blooms in place.
Those items are good, but say someone just brought you some lovely blossoms and you need to make an arrangement. You can find tools right around your home that will also work. Plastic egg cartons and styrofoam cups work very good at holding up your blooms. Turn them upside down and poke a few holes in them where you want the flowers to go. Just about any tape you can find around your home will work except for cellophane tape. Cellophane tape just doesn’t hold up in lots of moisture. Try masking tape or electrical tape or just some string and wire.
One neat trick when arranging flowers is to use foil with the foam. When you wrap tinfoil around the flower foam square you can keep the water with the flowers inside the foil. This allows you to create unusual arrangements in all kinds of containers that normally could not hold water such as a wicker basket.
Don’t underestimate the power of just one flower. One single rose blossom can say so much. Add a little babies breath and you have the perfect touch. There is no need to overdress flowers. They are naturally beautiful eye candy. Let the blossoms do the talking. You might want to have a lot of blossoms or just a few depending on the look you want.
The flowers that you choose should compliment each other. This is easy to do and comes naturally to many people. If you are nervous about it then look up a color wheel or complimenting colors on the web and you will find which colors work best together. Always consider the colors of the room you are going to put them in. Adding some green leaves or green filler between the blooms is always a good idea and compliments any flower just as it does in nature.
When you are cutting your blooms for the arrangement remember to cut some of the stems longer and some shorter. This way you can have some of your blooms taller in the back or middle of your arrangement. The smaller stems can go in front and around the edges. This makes your arrangement more shapely and interesting.
Remember to have fun while making your arrangements and enjoy the flowers. Don’t try to be too artistic, just let it come naturally. With a little patience and practice you will be making lovely arrangements for your home and as gifts for your loved ones and friends.
