A Guide To The Summer Pest Control

It seems that in the summer more and more pests are going to start appearing unfortunately. Some are just irritating and others can turn into much bigger problems. In this article, Jon Blake owner of Abate Pest Control in Cambridge and Norfolk looks at some of the pests you can expect to see and what can be done about them.

Wasps are a great nuisance in the summer, especially when we want to spend more time outside enjoying the nice weather if we’re lucky enough. The reason that wasps are more likely to come and irritate us is because this is the time of year where they need to go out to look for food for the young wasps. And when we’re eating ice cream, jam sandwiches and other sugary foods more outside in the summer, they are spoilt for choice. Pay attention to the rat control as well.

If you come across a wasps nest, you should only attempt to get rid of it if it’s actually causing a problem if it’s in your house for example. Don’t hit is or set it on fire, instead get some wasp insecticide powder and dust it around the entrance to the nest. Then, when the wasps return to the nest, it will rub off on them and work its way inside the nest. This is a much safer option. If you feel unable to tackle a wasps nest or are in any way unsure, make sure to call a pest control NZ nexpert.

Every year they come along and spoil picnics and barbeques. The first thing you can do to deter mosquitoes is to clear up any damp areas in your home. Mosquitoes need water to breed which is why they are so commonly found near lakes, rivers and other damp areas. So by clearing up any spills of water when they happen, wiping down your shower or bath and wringing out your washing up sponge, mosquitoes are far less likely to come out.You can also try using citronella products if you’re planning to spend a lot of time outside. These give off a pungent smell for the mosquitoes who won’t be as likely to come near. You can buy citronella candles and oils that look like normal candles.Remember that if you do get a large infestation of any pest, contact a pest control expert. They will be able to provide the best advice and make sure that the problem is dealt with for good and not just as a short-term solution.
