Flower events you cannot miss!

Britain is a particularly lovely place to spend days out with the family. Our beautiful countryside is an ideal place to enjoy country fairs, sigh over wedding flowers, enjoy hampers full of food and see some of the many and varied events up and down the country.

The Royal Horticultural Society runs a number of events throughout the year. Tatton brings all the loveliness of summer with beautiful displays that give inspiration to gardeners for wedding flowers, as well as good food and drink. Families and friends can organize their catering before they arrive by pre-ordering hampers to enjoy in the show ground.

For those who enjoy watching fierce competition, then the Taunton show is for them. Amateurs and professionals enter a huge variety of classes from cookery and photography to the more traditional horticultural classes giving visitors a feast of delightful exhibitions. 2011 sees a particular emphasis on dahlias in the floral displays.

Each year the Harrogate Autumn Show brings together several national societies to display the very best in flowers such as dahlias, chrysanthemums and gladioli giving great ideas for wedding flowers with an autumnal feel. Giant vegetables can also be on display although these are unlikely to make it in to a bouquet of wedding flowers for all but the bravest of brides. Most of this event is held under cover and so is a safe bet for an uncertain season weather-wise.

Autumn also offers the Malvern show. This country fair exhibits farm machinery as well as exhibitions of flowers and vegetables. Locally produced jams, honey and chutney all tempt visitors to include them in their picnic hampers next summer.

The RHS show at Hampton Court Palace has visitors flocking to enjoy the beautiful surroundings as well as the exhibits. A busy day of viewing the exhibition marquees with their stunning displays of everything from rare blooms to wedding flowers can be broken up by enjoying hampers in the midst of the Palace’s lovely gardens and parklands.

The jewel in the crown of many growers and designers is the RHS Chelsea Flower show and they will spend all year preparing, desperate for the recognition of a gold medal. Patrons including royalty and celebrities enjoy the large numbers of especially designed and built gardens as well as the vast exhibition marquees. Exhibits come from all over the world making Chelsea one of the best known shows globally.

Events such as these make great memories to take home and may give inspiration to try something new. Whatever your interests there are great events to be enjoyed for all the family.
